Fish Fry | Meen Varuval Without Ginger Garlic Paste

Fish fry can be done in many different ways and in whatever way we cook fishes are still teasingly delicious. This is another version of the fish fry, prepared in south Indian style. This Indian food recipe is so tasty and very easy to prepare. Fishes are rich in Proteins, Calcium, Vitamins B2 and D, Omega 3 fatty acids and low in Fat and Cholesterol. Even the low level of fish cholesterol will do you no harm. Fishes are good for weight loss, preventing heart diseases, reducing cholesterol. Lets see the preparation of this delicious fish fry.

INGREDIENTS

  1. Fish slices - 2
  2. Red chilli powder - 1 spoon
  3. Cumin powder - 1/2 spoon
  4. Pepper powder - 1/2 spoon
  5. Garam masala - A pinch
  6. Turmeric powder - A pinch
  7. Lemon juice - 2 spoons
  8. Salt - 1/2 spoon (or as required)
  9. Oil - For Frying

PREPARATION METHOD

  • Make a thick paste with the following ingredients;
      • Red chilli powder + Cumin powder + Turmeric paste + Salt + Lemon juice + Garam masala + Water (few drops just for making the paste)
  • Apply this paste on fish pieces and keep it in a refrigerator for 10 minutes.
  • Sprinkle pepper powder on the marinated pieces.
  • Deep fry the marinated fish pieces.
  • Serve!!
  • If you have some masala leftover just mix some sliced onions and curry leaves and fry them in the leftover oil used for frying fish. It will taste too good and will make a good accompaniment for curd rice.
TIP 1: You can use any type of fish pieces for this preparation.

TIP 2: You can aslo make the fry without cumin powder. Pepper powder makes the fish more crisp and also tasty!! So just sprinkle pepper over the fish, just few minutes before frying. Else you can mix it up along with the masala during marination.

TIP 3: Never use coloring agents for these kind of fry recipes. Addition of red chilli powder will give it a natural red  color.

Enjoy this tasty and spicy fish fry!!
