Red chilli coconut chutney / Spicy Dip

Chutneys are one of India's favorite dips. It is always accompanied with Vada, Dosa and Idly in India. There are huge varieties of chutneys made in different part of India. Red chilli coconut chutney is a spicy dip that goes excellent with Dosa and Idly. Also for a variation you can have it with a piece of toast and egg omlette it will taste great!! Coconuts have a rich taste and also healthy. Coconuts are rich in Fiber, Minerals and Vitamins and is a known cure for variety of sicknesses and diseases!! This spicy dip is made with red hot chillies which blends with the coconut's richness. Lets see how to make this chutney!! It easy and simple to make.


INGREDIENTS
  1. Coconut - Half 
  2. Dry Red chillies - 10 or 12
  3. Garlic pods - 1 (optional)
  4. Roasted chana dhal/Pottu kadalai - 1 spoon (optional)
  5. Cumin seeds/Jeera - 1/4 spoon
  6. Salt


PREPARATION METHOD
  • Add all the ingredients to a blender and grind it into a paste and serve!!!
  • Simple yet spicy and delicious.

TIP 1: You can also add a piece of tomato to enhance the taste and get a different flavor.

TIP 2: Garlic is optional but it gives a unique smell and flavor to the chutney.

TIP 3: Younger coconuts are best usable for making a chutney.

TIP 4: Roasted chana dhal/Pottu kadalai is used to increase the amount. Also it adds a mild   flavor to the chutney. It is also optional.

Try it with Dosa, Idly and for a difference with Bread toast and omlette. You will love it!!
