Muttai Masala | Egg Masala | Boiled Egg Coconut Masala | Side Dish For Biryani | Egg Masala For Chapati | Avitha Muttai Masala

Boiled egg gravies pair up very well with chapati as well as rice or biryanis too! The coconut masala we use here add so much flavor to the curry and makes it a lip-smacking side dish. You can make the same curry with paneer or even with chicken :) I made this along with vegetable biryani and trust me this combo was a hit!

PREPARATION METHOD

  • Boil and shell eggs, halve them and keep aside.
  • Peel and chop onions, chop tomatoes, green chillies and set aside.
  • Grind all the ingredients mentioned under "to grind" add water when necessary and make a smooth paste out of it.
  • Now place a pan on flame and pour oil. After it heats up add curry leaves, green chillies, onions and saute for a minute.
  • Then add tomato pieces and stir well.
  • Now add ginger garlic paste and salt and saute well until raw smell leaves.
  • Now add the coconut masala, red chilli powder and mix well. Pour 1.5 cups of water and cook until water content reduces and seems like a curry. Make sure the raw smell has left completely, else add some more water and cook a little more.
  • Then add mint leaves and coriander leaves and give a stir, then add the boiled eggs and let it cook for 2 minutes on low flame. Turn and cook for a minute and remove from flame.
  • Serve as sides with roti, chapati, biryani, or plain cooked rice!

TIP 1: As I already mentioned the same curry can be done with paneer or tofu. Jut cook paneer for 2 to 3 minutes not more than that.

TIP 2: Make sure that the coconut masala has got cooked well before you add the boiled eggs!
