Chocolate Bites | Crispy Deep Fried Choco Bites | Mini Chocolate Samosas | Easy Diwali Sweets

Think of this! Biting into a crispy treat and then suddenly tasting warm molten chocolate. How delightful it is to just have a thought of it? Why not try it this diwali and make this festive season even more chocolaty and fun? It needs minimal ingredients and easier than the traditional sweets, easy that any beginner can try this recipe. I have also included a video which was featured in vikatan's youtube channel while the recipe was featured in the Aval Kitchen magazine along with some more easy samosa recipes, a couple of months ago. So here's how to make these easy bites :)

INGREDIENTS

Makes 8-10 bites approximately (depends on the size)
  1. All purpose flour - 1/2 cup
  2. Salt - as required
  3. Butter - 2 tablespoons (optional; you can use oil or ghee also instead)
  4. Chocolate bar (milk/white/dark) - 100 grams
  5. Oil - for deep frying

PREPARATION METHOD

  • Take flour in a bowl and add salt mix well. Add butter and mix it well using your finger tips.
  • Add water little by little and make a soft dough, like you'd do for poori or rotis. Cover and set aside for few minutes. Do not let the dough become dry so cover it with a lid or a soft clean cloth amd keep in a warm place. Do not refrigerate.
  • Chop chocolates into small cubes, you can also refer the video to learn more. Use chocolate compounds as these are much stable than the normal bars. But you can definitely use any available chocolates. I used dark chocolate compound here. The chocolate should be at room temperature for better results.
  • Now pinch a part from the dough, flatten the dough nice and thin using a rolling pin and cut into a long rectangular sheet as shown. Then place the chocolate pieces as shown over the sheet by leaving certain amount of space between each chocolate cubes.
  • Brush or apply some water around the chocolate and fold the sheet as shown in the video, to cover the chocolate pieces.
  • Now cut into cubes and press the sides well (really well). Chop off excess dough.
  • Then use a fork to make impressions on the sides. This is to make sure that the chocolate does not leak out while deep frying.
  • Now place a frying pan on flame and pour enough oil to deep fry the samosas.
  • Gently deep fry the prepared bites and remove from flame after it becomes golden brown in color.
  • Remove from flame and serve as such or dust some icing sugar over it when its warm and serve immediately when its still hot, so that you can relish the melted chocolate :) You can also serve when cold but the chocolate would have become solid by that time, yet it would taste awesome!

Check out this video to learn how to make the bites :)

TIP 1: The dough can be made with just flour and water, but when you add butter the crust texture comes out nice and tastes better too!

TIP 2: Make sure you seal the sides really well else the chocolate will melt and leak out while you deep fry the samosas.

TIP 3: You can also bake these, just add an extra tablespoon of butter or fat to get the best texture.

TIP 4: You can also add some chopped nuts and turn creative, this is just  a basic idea.

Relish or Pack it and gift your loved ones :)
